Posting stuff online under real name

Anyone have experience writing articles under your real name while working at a financial institution? I want to write explainer and informative articles on commercial banking on Medium (or similar platform). I work in commercial banking for a large national bank.

There's not much info about it readily available online and I selfishly think it will help me learn more as I research and write about it. I'm a little concerned about using my real name while an employee of the bank - not out of embarrassment but someone in HR (or some other part of the bank, compliance?) being upset about it.

I know the right answer is to ask my manager and go from there but wanted to see if anyone had anecdotal thoughts.

I'd definitely clear it with compliance/HR just to cover your bases. Even if it's just for fun I'm sure there could be something buried in the compliance/HR manual about having to disclose outside business or related activities or certain disclaimers you'd have to include (like the post above about being explicit to state it's not endorsed by your employer, etc.) that could potentially burn you.
