BirdsIs this group comprised mostly of Alums, or current students? I'll be graduating this year.

Just curious. Seeing as this site is mostly for advice/discussion, thought we could get a dialogue going here.

Welcome to the group! This is for both Alums and Students. Yes we need to get a dialogue going to help with networking and jobs in finance. Feel free to suggest your ideas and/or take a lead.

net2adeoluI will be graduating this semester, I recently got a consulting offer, but I am still pursuing MM IB opportunities.

I believe Office of Career Management has been trying to ramp up after Dr. Kudisch took over. But not sure how effective they have been in the finance areas in the current economy.

Networking. I met an MD over the summer, who then referred me to a few people in different offices, and going into recruiting I had spoken to 7 or 8 people across all levels in 3 different offices. Then in about October an Alum reached out to one of the professors who blasted out an email over FBIS listserv. So partially through UMD, partially through my own efforts.
