Renting in London

Hi lads,

Long story short, will be relocating to London in the city. Want to get y'alls opinion on where to live - preferably 30mins commute max. Plus if it is a walkable distance to the office (no biking), say aldgate / clerkenwell etc, but 10-15mins tuberide is also fine

I have looked at areas that people recommend like paddington-marylebone, pimlico-chelsea etc, but the commute is quite far (35-40 mins) and interchange on tube is required which is not that ideal

Also, if I am living alone/sharing, what is the typical rent range in central zone 1 London? I looked at some nice places but the rent is close to 1.8k pcm per person. is this a usual price range? as i feel like anything nice and less than 1.5k is impossible to find, dont want to live in a studio either

Thanks a lot all !

Around Paddington with the Elizabeth you will be in Liverpool Street in 15min. Much better area to live in than around the city in my opinion. I personally live in South Kensington and work in the city and find the commute ok and the neighbourhood is really nice

Thank you! I heard South Ken is a very nice area, may I know how much do you pay for rent and bills for your share?

I would say, now in a nicer area that I have viewed several apartments in, they are at least in the 3.5k territory... anything sub 3k is either pretty rundown or in a quite remote area that is bad for commuting
