nothing will happen.  no european power has the balls to actually fight a war over this.

people dont really care about ukraine.

there was a massive war in afghanistan and iraq and most americans barely noticed.

You will barely be thinking about this in a month.  100%

Belarus and Kazakhstan will be next. But looking at the state of their current leadership, they will probably just give in without a fight. Following nationwide protests, Belarus' president Lukashenko has recently figured out that he needs to be cooperating closely with Putin if he wants to avoid the footsteps of ex-Ukrainian president Yanukovich. Likewise, following protests in Kazakhstan earlier last month, president Tokayev, who drew support of the Russian military to quell the protests, is positioning himself as pro-Russia leader

Agree, is a rebalancing act. The two regions, to Ukraine and moving forward to further targets. The other targets are a bit more tricky, given their achieved status in the EU and NATO. This is in some sorts a further proxy (started years ago with first proxies in other regions, moving forward after testing waters and finding out muted reactions). In any event, war is not what you need coming out of a pandemy.

"There go my holidays in Europe" and "Next Targets: Poland and the Baltics". Jesus, everyone settle down. If you want to visit Europe it will be perfectly safe to do so. Putin will likely take over the separatist-held regions and perhaps a little more but not a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The West will retaliate at some point and a middle ground will be found. However impulsive people perceive Putin to be, he isn't stupid. He doesn't want to start invading a continent with 2 other nuclear powers (UK and France) and also piss off the US which has countless troops throughout Europe. He is sending a message and wants a buffer between continental Europe and mainland Russia. Will this be a bloody conflict that might escalate past rebel-held areas of Ukraine? Probably. Is this WW3? Absolutely not.

Love all these internet sleuths who claim to know what goes on between closed doors in Russia's government and the internal workings of the mind of the country's President. I wish I had one hundredth of a bitcoin for every internet post in the last 2 weeks claiming that Russia would not invade, that Western fears were overblown, that Biden was being hysterical.

The fact that your title is 'Consultant in Consulting' makes it even more hilarious.

this invasion was 100% logical (yes, easy to say in hindsight). Ukraine is one of the richest countries in certain resources and is sitting on a key piece of land from Russia’s defensive point of view. ”What consequences are there if I attack?” Putin asks. The answer is some fucking ”sanctions”. R u serious? Not saying this is sleepy joes fault or whatever, but the Western leaders could have been more strict to prevent this invasion from happening.

More strict? This could have easily been avoided if they compromised at least a little bit. Ukraine does not even meet the bare minimum qualifications to enter NATO anyway. Why are they still pretending they're going to let them in "at some point in the distant future" when clearly they won't? They're just using that as leverage to piss off the Russians.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but what are some of the minimum qualifications Ukraine is lacking to enter NATO? Genuinely curious

Total insanity in commodities today. This is officially the end of global supply chains. Europeans are going to pay crazy prices for energy, Americans are going to see the highest food costs in ages.

I lean as well that Putin doesn't take all of Ukraine right away it would be a bitch for him to manage 44 million people who hate his guts.
In the end this is will be good for America as the “war style effort” will create new jobs and industries at home as supply chains become localized. But even that good is very sad result that the global way of solving problems is done for now.

If 44 million people hate him, then why something like 10 million left the country in the past 8 years and of the remaining ones, nobody is lifting a finger?

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

Controversial

Incredibly unfortunate situation. Praying everyone stays safe. MS if you disagree.

my grandmother had to flee her home today at 4am when Russia invaded, glad you will get your bonus tho :)

1) What are their preferred pronouns?

2) Are they wearing masks and respecting social distancing?

Found the snowflake. No room for cucks on this forum, didn’t realize this was turning into Reddit Jesus thought I’d get a break from the retards here

Currently studying abroad in Europe. Things are calm at the moment in terms of outside of the East. If you are spending time in Western Europe I think you'll be fine. Id be skeptical if you were planning to be in Budapest, Prague, Minsk or Warsaw...

Keep in mind I could come back to this comment in 4 months and the world is upside down.

Ok but for real if I was planning on going to vacation in Europe in a few months, what countries/cities should I be avoiding (besides Ukraine, obviously). Czechia? Austria? Poland? Denmark?

Bro chill I know that Denmark is like 3 countries separated from Ukraine. It's just one of the countries I was planning on visiting which is why I threw it out

Not true.  Obama did the surge in Afghanistan and restarted the Iraq war in 2016.  I know because I was there and I had buddies get killed.

Only the u.s. responds to catastrophe by turning on itself. Strange nationalistic response

The US should just offer citizenship to any Russian soldier who defects, along with their entire family. I guarantee you their forces in Ukraine would collapse.

Maybe give green cards to top performing students and well educated professionals. Brain drain em.
