This gives you an excuse to talk to both guys and girls, and come common ground to bond over. It will be difficult at first, but will get easier with repetitions. Don't sweat it man. This and I think the biggest red flag is that you say you have no close friends. I would try and figure this out first. You have to join something to interact with people. I know it can be hard, but you got to do something, Yoga, Cycling, something.
