Seeking FT LA Roommates

Hey All,

I'm an incoming A1 at a regional boutique in Los Angeles starting in mid June and looking for 1-2 roommates. I'm flexible on the move in date as I'm staying in a short term rental due to getting this position so close to my graduation in mid May. I'm looking to live in Santa Monica, Venice, and West LA in general, but also open to other locations. Here's some info about me:

Gender: Male

Budget: ~$2,000/month

Interests: Working out, video games, movies, skiing, riding motorcycles, hiking

I'm a pretty clean and organized person who likes going out. I also don't mind chilling out at home once in a while. I'm looking to be friends with my roommates as I'm new to the city. If you're interested, feel free to drop a reply or shoot me at PM!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some insights and tips for your search for roommates and housing in Los Angeles:

  1. Budget and Location:

    • Your budget of ~$2,000/month aligns well with the rental market in areas like Santa Monica, Venice, and West LA. Expect to pay closer to $1,750-$2,000 for a 1-bedroom or studio, or around $1,300-$1,500 per person in a shared roommate situation.
    • Keep in mind that cheaper rents are available further from the westside, but commuting in LA traffic can be a hassle.
  2. Transportation:

    • If you're moving to LA, having a car is highly recommended. Public transportation is limited, and navigating the city without a car can be challenging.
  3. Roommate Dynamics:

    • Living with roommates can save costs, but it's essential to find people you mesh well with. Consider discussing lifestyle habits, cleanliness, and expectations upfront to avoid conflicts.
    • Since you're new to the city and looking to build friendships, prioritize roommates who share similar interests or social habits.
  4. Finding Roommates:

    • Platforms like WSO threads, Facebook groups, or even apps like Roomi or SpareRoom can help you connect with potential roommates.
    • Be proactive in reaching out and sharing your details, as you've done here, to find like-minded individuals.
  5. Neighborhood Vibes:

    • Santa Monica and Venice offer a vibrant, beachy lifestyle with plenty of outdoor activities, which aligns with your interests in hiking and skiing.
    • West LA provides a more central location with access to various amenities and a mix of urban and suburban vibes.

Good luck with your move and roommate search! If you need more specific advice or resources, feel free to ask.
