Depends what you're looking to do. Series 79 for IBD. Series 7 for securities
Ideally I would like to get into PE but landing a job in a IBD would be great also. My dad owns an M&A advisory firm and is sponsoring me to take both of them and the 66. I am just wondering which I should take first.
7 Series BMW
The answer isn't "What do I take first", it's what does my job require me to thave. If you don't need the exams yet, having them coming in, particularly at the analyst level, will not change your chances of gaining employment as everyone in your analyst class will have to take whatever exams are required of them. I wouldn't sweat it and just take them once you start in yoru analyst class.
Which should I take first Series 7 or 79? (Originally Posted: 09/29/2011)
Hi everyone, it' s my first time on this site and I have a couple of questions. i am being sponsored for the 7 and 79, which should I take first? Ill be doing them back to back and was just wondering if you guys suggest one before the other. Also I am thinking of using the Knopman material for the 79 and training consultants in the OC for the 7 (been highly recommended) Also how long would you recommend I study for each? Any advice is appreciated !!!
PM me about the 7
Need advice whether to take Series 7 & 79 exams! (Originally Posted: 05/30/2013)
Hey all-
im going to be starting FT at my MM in july. the firm told me however that i will NOT be required to take either series license exams...
a) is this odd? it is a very reputable shop so they know what they are doing (its a MM bank talked about all the time on WSO) so i am confused why i am not being forced to get it while many other MMs and the BBs are making analysts get it
b) if i want to do PE/buyside recruitment which i am 99% positive i want to do (specifically PE)- will i be ineligible to qualify without the Series 7 and/or 79? even if i am not required to for PE, will i be at a disadvantage to the candidates that are certified when going against them to get an interview? will headhunters NOT take me seriously?
c) should i press my firm to sponsor me to take the exams even if it not required?
thanks!!!! please help!
