I haven't posted for awhile but I saw a thread a little while back where that black CEO (I forgot your username (PS: not racist or anything, if anything I'm happy that you're black and a CEO (I know that makes it sound like I'm even more racist but I'm not, I mean it in a good way, honest, friend))) and dingdong and a few others were bashing your own god damn careers as bankers and comparing them to some doc douche (ok doctors are good people I take the douche part back) -- I know it might have been a joke but still, it's the principle of it all!
It's going to sound pointless and childish when I say it but I want to say it anyways. You guys are AWESOME people. I mean it. I freaking love your personalities, your toughness, your humour (Canadian spelling ;-]) and above all that you guys are bankers! C'mon! It's not meaningless, it's not tedious (ok sometimes it might be) but really all that is just in your head. I read these posts and I think..."how the hell does this awesome guy (or girl!) think his/her work is meaningless when he/she's got so much damn character! So much to offer too!
I know it sounds patronizing and childish and whatever else and I'm sorry for that, but please never undermine yourselves again! It's hard not to, I know, I'm in the same boat as you guys. But if we all change our attitudes we can create a pretty damn positive world (SORRY - Hippy talk, I know, I know!!! sorry!) but I'm serious. The world is changing. And YOU bankers ARE (whether you realize it or not) pretty damn big leaders in both our economy and the world. I don't know, especially the guys already big in banking, you guys are leaders to the younger generations too. Believe it or not you guys all inspire the hell outta me! Everytime I get a little depressed about school work I think about the convos I've had with you guys and laugh and keep at it!
So I mean, c'mon! you never know who you're inspiring -- both on these forums and in real life! So PLEASE, this is me, some RANDOM person you'll probably never meet (unfortunately for me !) URGING you guys to lead the younger generations into a more prosperous future but ONLY AFTER you promise to NEVER undermine yourselves again.
RANT OVER. AND I MEAN EVERY GOD DAMN WORD, I SWEAR TO GOD YOU GUYS INSPIRE ME SO PLEASE JUST LEAD LIKE YOU MEAN IT!!
And I'm sorry if this sounded childish, but please take it to heart. You guys are an inspiration to, at the very least, me (and probably many others both in the forums and real life).

Just wow.....complaining a bit doesn't mean you dislike your job, and I think the threads where some of the guys like @"Dingdong08" toss in a bit of reality about the jobs they do are great, because it helps to provide a dose of reality when a lot of people (you included) glorify jobs that you've never actually worked in yet.....

I respect your opinion, and I'm not saying you're wrong and I'm sorry I had to get sappy, maybe you're right, maybe in time i'll learn your way is right -- but unless I get proof of it through my own experiences I gotta do what feels right to me. That felt right at the time, and I said it. Yeah it was embarrassing, but I'm tired of feeling scared of other people's opinions. I admire a lot of you guys here, and a lot people in life. I like to let people know.
But again, maybe in time I'll learn that your way is right but right now I just need to do what I feel is right till I learn otherwise. If I learn I'm wrong about all this, and it's actually impeding other people's progress in any way shape or form -- I'd be the first to admit it.
