Stalking on LinkedIn
Recently connected with some IB recruiters in my city as a hedge against COVID in my industry and within a few days my profile started getting 10+ "investment banking analyst viewed my profile" messages. Checked out the banks and none of them have postings even on their own website. Keep in mind, I am a consultant with minimal IB contacts.
How often do people look up potential candidates on LinkedIn when there is no job posted? Maybe they just add you to a list or something in case an analyst drops?
Don't want to send my resume to these recruiters because I have heard horror stories about at least one of these recruiters as well as the firm in general.
TL:DR why would you look up a candidate on LinkedIn if there was no job opening?
Everyone looks up candidates on LinkedIn at the very least...do you not do that when you're involved in a hiring process?
Also, some banks have recruiters on retainer to feed them candidates regardless of whether there are open roles or not. And some roles may just not be posted publicly for whatever reason.
