Starting finance career with shaved head?
Hey everyone, wanted to get some advice from fellow monkeys. Looking to shave my head soon (balding is becoming fairly noticeable around the temples and the top). Tired of having to do weird combing and pretend it looks alright in pictures.
Some firms don't like the bearded look. Those firms suck. I feel ya though - my hair is thinning in the crown and I think about shaving the head frequently. But I am also praying to the gods that there is a cure for baldness in the next two years.

It's honestly to the point where every few months I'll google any recent studies. It's so damn stupid of me lol. I feel like I need my hair to pull any decent tail - not that I do now anyways, but I think I'd be worse off without hair.
always wanted to give finasteride a try but worried about the side effects. What if I kept the beard close to skin? Basically anything to avoid the double bald look (no hair no facial hair). Not trying to pull a bezos..
I think you'd be fine. As long as you KNOW it looks good, it'll be fine. The problem is that you see kids with beards that look like the hair on my nutsack, and I don't know how they think it looks good. Maybe ask a few others what they honestly think of your appearance with the shaved head and beard.
I would recommend finasteride.
I've been taking it for a year and I've noticed the effects. I'm thankful. I haven't seen hair growth but I have stopped losing hair.
The worst side effects are depression and low libido. I was afraid of the depression but I haven't gone through anything that was from the medicine. Libido is a-ok as well.

If you're thinking of taking finasteride, I would said think quickly, it takes 3-6 months to take effect, in my case it took about 6-7 months.

Your fellow analysts will give you less crap if you go in with your head bald, rather than shaving it at a later point. Just my $0.02.

Get a hair transplant and jump on finasteride/dutasteride (dutasteride is better in terms of hair protection / regrowth).
isnt dutasteride still going thru tests in the US? didnt think you could get it OTC
This is what I worry about. Every male on my dads side went bald by 28~30. Everyone on my moms side has tons and tons jet black thick hair. Its like the russian roulette of balding.
I have a full head of hair so I've not looked too deeply into this, but doesn't the hair transplant work pretty well (as in, it works and looks good)? Rather than laser all of my body hair off, I've kept a decent amount as an insurance policy against future head hair loss.
from bosley's website: hair transplants cost $8-9.50 per graft, and a "low number" is considered 1,000 grafts. so give or take $8k or more. plus you won't stop balding, so you'll have to keep this going.
for comparison's sake, a trimmer will be less than $50.
change your attitude, don't fight mother nature, embrace the bald.
Buy a pair of clippers from walmart and give yourself a 0,1, or 2 guard length haircut. Shaving your head is a pain in the ass and your skin where your hair was is going to be a lot whiter than the rest of your face unless you're black. Most people will also assume that you're 30+ and there is no worse place to get ingrown hairs than on your head. I cut my hair with a 1 or 2 guard every 2 weeks or less.
doesn't matter what you do but I worked with an associate who was former Ranger and came in every day with a bald head and huge beard. even the global head didn't fuck with him. if you can replicate the "don't fuck with me, I've killed people" look, you will win in life.

If you're not balding and you work in IB you're not working hard enough. Just look at people like Lloyd Blankfein or some of the Managing Directors at various firms...the top one's are bald or balding /sarcasm.
In all seriousness it shouldn't matter so long as you do enough power poses and don't give a shit. I doubt firms care...you could smell like a turd but if you do great work or bring in business...no one gives two shits.
I would not endorse hair loss prevention products due to their general nature to block DHT which is essential to your alpha maleness (serious).
I tried bald for a while and it was weird but fun. Also, some girls really liked it.
I actually have lots of hair but it is starting to annoy me senseless.
I am sick of all the maintenance and it is a pain in the ass when you go to the gym a lot (takes an age to dry then you have to put crappy product into it).
I want to get a buzzcut but I am worried how acceptable it is for a conservative finance place?
