Starting school late

Hey everyone, I will be attending UGA but I have been admitted for the Spring 2021 semester. So basically I will be “behind” a semester if I don’t go somewhere else in the fall. My question is would it be a good idea to not go to school in the fall? since I’d be a semester behind I would technically get an extra intern cycle. The only real downside to taking this gap is being able to keep up & be able to get back into the grove of school. What is your take on my situation? Thank you in advance.

during application season I was extremely stuffed up with stuff so I ended up applying really late (couple days before deadline). On my acceptance letter it says I was accepted for Spring 2021 bc there were no more fall 2020 spots.

Yeah I agree. Get some 101 classes knocked out. Make sure they transfer before you sign up though.

I think you have 5 choices:

  1. Take classes in non-degree program (most schools will let you take their classes)

  2. Internship

  3. Study abroad

  4. Work

  5. Volunteer

I’d probably take classes so that you’re in the normal recruiting cycle. You can probably take classes anywhere including target schools if you’re not in a degree program there.

I just graduated from UGA. All you need to do is take classes in the summer. what’s the big deal? you spend a summer in a place with 80 bars in square mile?

I actually feel like you're in a good position.. No one really knows you're "behind." You just put "Class of 202X." And you get an extra summer for internships. I would probably do some kind of traveling or study abroad if you can swing it, but otherwise I would do an internship or something like that if you can.
