Summer Housing NYC Intern advice

I'm working over the summer in NYC in equity research and trying to line up my housing. I'm thinking mostly of just living in the NYU dorms but am looking for more advice, mainly because I've never been to new york before. My workplace is on the left of Kips Bay. The main thing I am aiming for I suppose is also to find good social circle because I also don't know very many people in New York.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Stick to NYC housing or get an airbnb with some friends. Second option is usually cheaper but if you're social and comfortable starting convos with new people, NYC dorms are great for socializing (assuming you're not working banking hours of 80+ a week)
