Taking a year abroad and deferring scholarship since it's online?

Hey everybody. So I just graduated from a target school and I had a pretty good gig set up for a prestigious graduate scholarship in economics. The scholarship feeds into other good jobs. However, now they're telling me that it's all going to be online, and I'm not going to travel to the school anymore. They told me that I wanted to, I could defer to next year.

I'm really feeling disappointed, because I do not want to be stuck in my parents' house all of next year completing the graduate work. I don't do well in online classes. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do between now and then if I did defer to next year. I was thinking about maybe doing one of the things where you teach in a foreign country for a year. I was also thinking I could do freelance web development work during this time since I know coding.

I think there's a chance I could get an internship abroad too, since I have a cousin who owns a small investment bank in a country that's on my mind, and he has offered this in the past a couple years ago. This isn't really guaranteed so I don't want to bank on it.

Anyway, should I just grind through the online graduate work? Or am I being stupid if I take a year off?

I would defer imo. Taking upper level graduate courses online sounds terrible and I think a one year break would be nice especially if you could work/intern and save up a little money
