Taking on Travel Debt B4 Starting FT

Hey all,

I’m currently in a position where I’ll have two months off between graduating and starting my job. I’m considering backpacking in Southeast Asia for a month, but with the cost of living and moving to NYC, I’d likely need to take on around $1,000-1,500 in credit card debt before my first paycheck. (Note: I’d be able to fully pay it off once that first paycheck comes in.) I’m also currently working part-time on the side.

Given how volatile the markets are right now, a lot can change before my start date, and going into debt doesn’t seem like the best idea.

On the other hand, I don’t know when I’ll ever get another two-month break in my life to do a trip like this.

Would love to hear your thoughts
