Russian empire took Siberia and their successors still own it, keeping the country afloat whenever difficulties arise.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

Carthage deserves to be up another tier. They had and empire that was the most prosperous of all antiquity and spanned from North Africa to present day Spain and Sicily. It took the Romans three tries over the course of a century

It spanned an extremely small portion of North Africa, some of southern Spain, and some of southwestern Sicily.  But not all at the same time.  It wasn't even close to the most prosperous empire of antiquity, it was a wealthy metropolis, but hardly the only one in the Western Mediterranean.  It's main rival for much of it's history, Syracuse, was just as large and just as prosperous.  Even mid-Republican Rome was on par with the size and influence Carthage wielded, which was as a pre-eminent regional power but not a superpower in the sense that Rome would become, or Persia or Egypt or Macedon were.

for Cato's call for Carthago deranda est to be realized.

That's because for the last 50 years of it, Rome consciously avoided attacking and Carthage actively avoided provoking Rome.  From the beginning of the First Punic War to the end of the Second (which was the effective end of Carthage as an independent political entity) only 60 or so years passed.  A far cry from "over a century"
