42 year old Tom Brady has lost 3 out of the past 5 games. If you look at his stats for the season, he's not even a top 20 QB anymore. The Patriots as a whole are good, but Tom Brady is underperforming. I hate to say it, but I think Tom Brady's finished and he should retire at the end of the season. Is Tom Brady the GOAT? Does he still have another super bowl left in him? Should the Patriots bench him in favor of younger players like PETE BUTTIGIEG?

No way. I feel like Lamar just got lucky in his first couple of years, now injuries are starting to set in and don’t forget he got a 13 on the wonderlic test. He can’t run an offense off of intellect and knowing where to check-down, he does it purely off of athleticism and skill which won’t last after he comes back.
TB12 is still quite good. His biggest issue (or the team's issue) is their offensive line sucks. Can't run block. Can't pass protect. In defense tot hem, they are playing without key starters who were the primary Brady protectors.
Their fullabck, Devlin (awesome lead blocker and pass protector) has been out all season too so it's just hard to get anyhting going. Receivers aren't getting open quickly (no seperation, so he needs more time to throw which he simply doesn't have because his line collapses. That's why you see him thow the ball away so often. has to be at least 7 times per game now)
3rd string center, left guard finally came back (most important spot as he protects the back side), no real TEs. SImply no weapons. If he had what he's used to, I htink he would still be a top 5 QB.
They're not not scoring because of him.
He's not "still quite good". He honestly started declining last yearbut a solid playoff run/Gronk masked it. He's gotten even worse this year, to the point that he may not even be a top 15 QB - and this is against one of the easiest schedules in the league. He should probably retire after this year.
Pretty late to this thread, but that's ridiculous to say he might not be a top 15 QB this season. Yes, Tom Brady isn't as good as he once was, but he's still pretty damn good. His problem is his offensive line and receivers. Not only are his receivers not very talented, but this year, for the most part, they--especially Phillip Dorsett-- are extremely sloppy as well. You can't expect a QB to put up staggering numbers when they have no o-line, and a sloppy, untalented receiving core.

You sound like another clickbait news article. Not even a Patriots fans but it’s still apparent that Tom Brady is a very talented quarterback and can be a strong asset to any team. If you look at things at surface level, it is understandable that you would see it that way because it seems like the media likes to look at the stat line and the score and nothing else. Tom Brady does not have any help. He has two rookie wideouts in NKeal Harry and Jacoby Meyers, and Edelman is regularly double teamed. Dropped passes, incorrect route running, and nearly non existed receiver separation doesn’t give him a a lot of options. His pocket protection is lacking, and he is having to get the ball out extremely fast. Yeah he throws a lot of incomplete passes, but he’s having to throw the ball away a majority of the time due to strong coverage and lack of protection. I’d like to see another quarterback come in and try under the same circumstances. I’d take Brady any day of the week. He plays smart, patient, and doesn’t try to unnecessarily force anything. Blame the O-line, blame the receiving corps, or blame the coaching, but don’t be a another puppet who who thinks this is all a result of old age.
He’s not elite anymore - he’s just average as qb. He’s not the weakest link yet but he’s getting there
I think his physical ability has obviously declined but the decision making is still there. If I were a Pats fan I’d still be optimistic about at least making the AFC Championship. I mean let’s assess who they’re likely to face in the Divisional Round assuming they still get a bye:
I don’t see any other AFC team in the hunt as a serious challenge to the Pats at home. So to me as long as they win out they still have a high chance of making it to the AFCC. And who knows. If the Ravens choke in the divisional round the Pats and Tom Brady have a good chance of getting to the Super Bowl again. That’s TB12 potentially leading them to yet another SB shot. Regardless of his physical degradation I’m not sure what else you want from him.
Well you didn't need to write all that. They can be optimistic about making the AFC championship because if they have a first round bye they only need to win one game to get there. If they lose to the Bills and miss out on that bye I'd put money on them losing in the wild card or divisional round.
And no one is saying the Pats can't get to the SB, they're defense and coaching (and potentially some miraculous vintage Brady turn) gives them a chance. There's almost no doubt in my mind that Brady is no longer a top 10 QB though

Which 10 QBs would you rather have? Not disagreeing, I'd place him 5-10 in terms of who I'd want in the regular season. Post-season I'd still have him at least in the top 3.
Mahomes, Jackson, Rodgers, Wilson. After this it becomes less obvious. I'd rather have Brady than Matt Ryan, Dak, Watson, but some people would disagree. After this, though, it falls apart. Would much rather have Brady than Rivers, Wentz, Baker, even Jimmy G and Stafford.

Brady has not been atop 5 QB this year and he is slowing down. But they are 10-3, albeit with an easy schedule, and the rest of the offense is downright terrible.
Brady leads the league in attempts because their o-line is so bad they can't run (averaging almost a full yard less per carry this year). Half of his drop backs seem to be him throwing the ball away or to a RB/WR who's only a few yards away because the o line can't buy him any time. And when they do buy him time, his WRs can't get open or drop the ball. His only decent WR is an aging 5'10" guy.
If Brady played with the guys in SF, Seattle, KC, or Baltimore, he'd have 1 loss at most. The Pats have problems, but Brady isn't one of the top 5 this year. If you take away every team's QBs and look at the rest of the offense, the Pats probably have one of the 5 worst offensive rosters in the league.
This is patently false. Seattle has a terrible offensive line and bad defense - their wide receivers are also not great - Wilson just makes them look that way, Brady as he stands would make that team worse. Baltimore is uniquely tailored to Lamar Jackson's immense talents, Brady would make that team significantly worse. The 9ers, fair - but that infrastructure is similar to the current Pats team and until the last 4 games or so Garrapolo was garbage being carried by a great defense and... an easy schedul. KC? I guess - Mahomes has been marginally above average since he got injured earlier this season.
This is all a bit out of hand, they're 10-3 because they've played one of the worst schedules I've ever seen. I think they have one win against a team .500 or better in the Bills. Their 3 losses to the Texans, Chiefs, and Ravens reflect who they are even with that elite defense. Brady just can't overcome any deficiencies on offense right now. That's not the stuff of a top QB.
Yes, they're a "bad" 10-3. They beat the Steelers who are 8-5 as well. Plus the Eagles and Cowboys, who admittedly aren't very good, but that's 3-3 against playoff teams.
The Seahawks have a better run game - it's not particularly close. I think Wilson is amazing, though because their defense is not good. While I'd rather have Wilson than Brady, I don't know if the Pats would have a better record with Wilson. You're right that Brady can't overcome the offensive deficiencies - I just don't think anyone else could either. Maybe 1-2 QBs, but even with Lamar or Wilson, I don't think they'd be a SB winning team.

Ya Brady isn't the same as he once was and not having Gronk, AB, or even Gordon is gonna make it harder on him to preform. When you're best receiver is also an aging white guy, its usually a recipe for disaster.

I'd like to take a moment and reflect at TB12s greatness. Is he in decline? OF COURSE...the guy is 42yo. but you would have to be a fool or blind not to take another QB in the postseason or for an important game. Based on what I'm seeing, he still has it (doesn't look anywhere CLOSE to as bad as Peyton Manning did in his SB year) - same zip, good accuracy, amazing reads. The problem = his supporting cast is flat our horrible this year.

They are 10-3 and are positioned for a bye if they can win out...given this offense, I like their chances to figure it out ENOUGH on O to win yet another SB.
He's in a competition with Bill Belichick to see who will retire first. But jokes aside, I'm surprised Belichick isn't working on securing a solid replacement/backup QB and giving him some play time. TB12 is old and won't be able to heal quickly like the 22 year olds can. I do think this is his last year in the NFL.
