Career Resources
What were you doing for the last two years, have you been applying this whole time? How senior are you?
Generally though you're going to have to start applying way downstream - like FP&A type roles just to get back into a seat. It's not really correct but people are definitely wary of long gaps without a great reason
Associate, 6 YOE, I've been doing nothing but applying. Even tried my hands at a few FP&A type roles but either the recruiter says I'd be a better fit for one of their banking clients or they'd like more actual FP&A experience. It's like I'm trapped in a no win situation.
I'm sure you're doing it already, but networking into really tiny boutiques in PE/IB? Some senior with their own shop might be happy to scoop you up at a discount.
I might also position the first year or so as an intentional career break rather than "yeah I've been applying for 2 years"
