Intern Nitpick
We have this intern that’s actually great. The only issue is every single time he gets a comment or anything of the sort, he always comes back with “I was going to do that” or “I was actually thinking about that” or “I actually had it that way but changed it”.
It’s not a big deal but sometimes I know it’s just ta lie because I may be teaching something that’s obviously new to him. I don’t want to be a jerk but I might have to sit him down and just tell him to say “okay sounds good”, I don’t want him to run off poorly on other team members. It might just be a total nit pick though because he does have a good attitude, is it weird that this is annoying to me?
You could also make up a stupid comment, wait for him to say "yeah, exactly what I was thinking!", then explain why it was wrong. If you do it playfully enough, you won't come off as a jerk, but he'll get the message..
