Updates on WFH?

Does anyone have any updates on their firms WFH policies or time lines on returning to work?

My friend group is 50/50 on preferring permanent WFH but am curious to see if there is a first mover in finance for allowing WFH. My guess is it would be a bank before a fund, but who knows.

Not NYC, but everyone here is either "not until 2021" or has already been back for two months. Really no in between.

How is Chicago right now? Going there FT and my firm said everyone in Jan 2021 most likely. I haven’t moved but my team recommended moving now

It's alright. Lakefront path is open which is nice for running. Beaches still closed. Luckily my apt building has a pool, but I would hold off moving here to save on rent. My lease isn't up until December so I am not sure if I would re-sign if it was up 8/31

Not going back until 2021

Hopefully never, I like WFH. Maybe one day a week to go in and shake hands or whatever. But I really don’t need to take a shower and drag my sorry butt across town to stare at a computer and sit on conference calls all day.

I’m hoping my side businesses takes off and I never go back to regularly being in a office. A decade of my life went by in a blink of an eye. For what? Some more zeros in a bank account? Fuck that.

My new career goal is early retirement.

depends on your role tbh. a lot of the traders in my firm (and anyone else who can't afford not to have the fastest market data) have been back in for a long time. pretty much everyone else is "not till '21" as CRE said.

fwiw, this is in london. might be different for anyone on the other side of the atlantic.

home internet may be less fast or more prone to loss of connection. maybe not a problem for every trader, but apparently has been enough of an issue for some banks to act on. that's the case with my bank, anyway.

couldn't tell you which trading jobs i'm afraid (not a trader myself)
