Great choice at Cardinal Bergoglio. He is a well respected, principaled conservative scholar with a science background (Chemistry) who is not afraid to speak up against the rogue regime of The Kirchners and who does not hesitate to denounce social justice/liberation theology (which is just code name for communism).
Incidentally Bergoglio, like many Argentinians, is of Italian descent and speaks the language fluently. So while his election does mark the first time a non-European is elected the pontiff, this also represents a return of the papacy to the Italians.

I'm a non-denominational Protestant and reject the concept of the Pope based on theology. That said, the Pope is a major figure in the world and is an important voice. The selection today I think was as good as I could hope (from someone who is not Catholic). And any enemy of Kirchner is a friend of mine.
