I actually thought it was quite good. I wouldn't say it was amazing though, nor have I really heard a bunch of people saying it was. Then again, if that's what critics are saying.... I don't even take their opinion into consideration.

star wars.... saw my first star wars last year.. cannot believe that adults buy into the force BS... and why, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, do the swords matter in a world with laser guns?!?!?!

but seriously though, its a great KID'S movie.. I just don't get the adult fandom.. In my mind, star wars is not that far from spaceballs... and spaceballs is funnier..

Not into Star Wars myself, but I see why it appeals to both adults and kids. Obviously kids like the action, lightsabers etc. But there is literally a HUGE amount of lore out there, and that seems to be the part that engrosses adults. I know this because I literally said the exact same thing you did and got ripped into by my boss who was apparently a fanatic. It seems there are a whole lot of political and economic themes that the films don't really go into.

That.

In addition to the problems other posters have mentioned, Rey simply sucks. It's kind of hard to actually care about a character when they're so perfect that they can learn how to fly ships instantly, are instantly loved by even the most curmudgeous characters in the series, can do in a few minutes what took even the most gifted characters months and years to learn....etc.

She's so amazing at everything it's hard to take her seriously and the lack of any struggle or hardship on her part on-screen makes it difficult to build any real empathy.

I mostly agree with you but I will preface this by saying that I like the Star Wars franchise so I am a bit biased. I was rather annoyed that towards the end of the movie she could just start suddenly using the force and could do it better than someone who has been training as a Sith for years. With that being said, I think the idea of the creators was to draw a comparison between her and Anakin Skywalker. Both were poor, unknown kids who grew up out on the edge of the galaxy and yet both have huge, untapped potential.

It's easily Avatar, how people saw that movie as anything but Pocahontas in space I will never know. Can't believe it made as much as it did in the box office and was actually nominated for awards (how the fuck did it get nominated for best picture/ director at the Oscars).

Wolf of Wall Street......... I don't care how much monkey shit this attracts.

Fuck that movie and fuck all the highschool/ college losers that draw inspiration from that cinematographic equivalent of dog shit.

1.) I hate Forrest Gump 2.) I can't and never have gotten through Titanic in entirety, agreed here as well 3.) Don't ever disrespect Pulp Fiction, it deserves every accolade it gets 4.) Fight Club is really good but a bit overrated

99% of the new movies are shit. Complete rehashes of the (second) golden era of Hollywood. Even great directors like Tarantino have completely lost their touch.

Never discuss with idiots, first they drag you at their level, then they beat you with experience.

interstellar. great movie but that ending was way too ridiculous to justify a #32 ranking on imdb. they have this movie ranked above gladiator, braveheart, a clockwork orange, and the big lebowski to name a few. gtfo

I don't go on overratedness, I either think a movie is so bad its good, terrible, bad, okay, good, great, or awesome. Overrated merely means you let outsiders influence your thinking too much. I'll look at reviews to get a sense if I want to see a movie or not, but I don't take any stock in how much hype a movie has. Because there is only one thing that can happen, and that is a let down.

Pretty shocked at the negative responses towards There Will be Blood. That movie is absolutely fantastic on so many different levels. The eerie soundtrack and landscape, Daniel Day Lewis becoming insane, the relationship between the church and capitalism/oil. And the ending scene is brilliant.
