What did you guys do in High school
What did you guys do in HS? Did you start your own business? Have a job? Blow your parents money? In HS I started a couple businesses, but I wish I had paid more attention to my grades.I I started a web hosting with business with a friend, I handled the finances and marketing he did the technical stuff. Along with that I traded stocks on the side, sometimes in school. It was a lot of fun and it allowed me to pay for college and occasionally splurge. My first car ended up being a Porsche boxter that I pretty much totaled senior year. The greatest thing I gained form these experienced was a glimpse into how real world business is run.
i drank, played sports, went to the beach, and went to as little school as possible... worked out ok for me

Parents forced me to get a job @ 10 hours a week. I liked being out of the house so much i was working 30-40 hour weeks soph-senior year. banked every penny of that which is when i started looking into investing which led to an interest in finance after i realized i could make my money produce more money while sitting at home
Looking back, I actually wish I had been forced to work in high school and college part-time. I think I would have developed a much better work ethic earlier....
Im glad i did it. while everyone else with a part time job spent the money on a beater and the insurance to go with it i didnt spend any of it. having a big pile of cash (by a 18 year olds standards) going into college was definitely nice
I did what somebody planning on going to a community college for music would do...
Drank, got pussy, play varsity sports, had a part time job, and had fun.
I think it'd be interesting to see people post at the end what college they go to now, to see if there's a correlation between what they did in HS and where they got into college

I absolutely think there has to be a correlation. Obviously the people that had more fun didn't have as much time / interest in studying and doing well. That was my situation, and I accordingly didn't get into a really good school.

oh man HS really brought out the asshole entrepreneur in me hahaha.
I had access to all the latest PS2 and Dreamcast games for download, so I used to sell those games online and to my class mates. Also I figured out a way (without stealing) to get about 3-5 free products a day from a certain company that I can sell on ebay for about $30-$40 so I did that for a little while as well.

Played 4 sports, played in a band, worked part-time, drove too fast, drank enough, got honors without turning a page, and had a blast. Only mistake was having a relationship senior year. Hey Zeus, those were good times.

Seriously, I was a hard working student and did well, but not at the point where I actually got into target schools. I applied to some, but got rejected. I ended up working smarter and better in college (did well academically, got good internships, wrote solid essays, etc.) and end up transferring to a target. In my experience, getting into a top school is about showing the adcoms what u can bring to the table and how that'll benefit the school at hand.
