This is, by far, the most profoundly ill-informed comment I've read on WSO. It compares to something in a CNN comment section.

You do realize that Sanders' socialist policies are basically a petition to relinquish any economic freedom we have here? We'll be France 2.0 under him. Do you have any idea what social mobility is like in France? Fucking zero. When the government "offers" you a bunch of programs supported by higher tax rates, they're taking your money and choosing what to buy for you.

Social security is actually more closely aligned with a ponzi scheme, which one could theoretically  define as a socialistic-ally structured enterprise.    Socialism in of itself is just a system designed to promote stagnation, which to me is the insanity of the whole thing.
You have people who are out in the streets protesting because they don't have jobs they deem are good enough because they can't pay back loans for education that they willingly and knowingly pursued.

this isn't a cop-out - but pragmaticism is handy philosophy - if without an ideological consistency.

This may be one of my favorite posts. I feel like too many people have been reading Marx or Rand and taking it to heart far too much. Extremist political philosophy doesn't translate to an effective government in the flesh and blood world. A Jeffersonian view that has been bastardized to modern libertarianism won't work because its base is 250+ years old and was written in a largely agrarian colonial society.

It's the problem with primaries (and the two-party system). Candidates have to run to the extremes to get the nomination, and then backtrack toward the mid center to win the election but not too far to the center so they can still get the extremes to vote for them in the general election. It's a stupid system, but alas, it's what we have.

I read something that the majority of the country, especially under a certain age, is fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
