owner of my own business. am nowhere near that as I am still in finance trying to build up the capital to pursue this. Hopefully will be able to start building something in the next 5 years. have no clue in what field or type but want something that is mine.
What are you doing now? How much capital do you need?
AM.
It is not just the capital to start but to feel secure in taking a risk. My personal hope is that I can maybe give it a go once I have 300k in savings/investments. If it fails no worries, can go get my MBA and try again later.
same, what type of business do you aspire to own?
successful music project - have had my project for like a year and it is still a 0 but one day...
Founder of a tech company with software focused on making algorithms more process and carbon efficient, while also owning a gym/athletic complex
Was at my small cap HF but we failed
Damn - what do you want to do next?
Not getting interviews for anything right now for anything corporate related
I want to make $150k working 40 hours a week.
Being in the film industry in some capacity whether producer or director. Friend of a friend’s cousin is married to a big name director but I doubt that would lead to anything.
Second this - always thought it would a wonderfully rewarding career to be in the film landscape, whether it’s writing & directing, producing, or a mixture of both.
Also always thought being somewhat like Indiana Jones or Clint Eastwood’s character from the Eiger Sanction would be sweet - although that’s basically impossible.
I've worked with Doug Liman (he is known for directing the films Swingers, Go, The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper, Edge of Tomorrow, and American Made). I was just background in an MTV gig (I was the bearded hippie at the bar). We only did 1-2 scenes but it took like 12 hours. I was exhausted just after one day of filming - it is very meticulous work. Doug has very high attention to detail. He was like a conductor of people - it was an experience working with him. I didn't have any speaking lines and luckily didn't mess up enough for him to correct me.
Isaiah this doesn't surprise me in the slightest. It seems like you've done so much in your life, anything on your bucket list that you haven't crossed off yet?
True dream job: Assaulter on a T1 Squadron. Color (DG) or Letter (CAG), but preferably the latter.
It is impossible for me to accomplish, sadly, due to a pretty serious heart condition that I've had surgery for.
Realistic dream job: Successful Real Estate Investing practice where I can essentially be a stay at home dad focusing on family and hobbies.
I'm in year 2 of a solid CRE lending job. So a long ways to go, but slowly building up the acumen and financial base to pursue the goal.
Car designer, no doubt. I've been obsessed with fast cars since I was a kid. The adrenaline rush, the sleek designs, it's all my jam. Right now, I'm actually working on restoring a sick 1968 Porsche 912 and I’m lucky to be working with a friend in Switzerland. It's like a project from heaven.
