What is your title after A2A?
I know many places put you at the same level (stub year) as MBA associate as Aso 0. And a few banks screw you for 1st year if you stay as associate. (I’d be surprised if someone actually gets VP position after 4 years considering the associate cycle is typically end of year)
What’s the policy at your bank?
What is the question? If you get promoted in August, you're As0 until December like the associate entry classes, and then As1 in January etc. You get your analyst bonus, signing bonus, As0 stub bonus so you make out very well.
Every A2A I've seen that is still around at the end of AS3 is very very easily promoted to VP. The reps and relationship you get from 2 years of grinding out models as an analyst put you miles ahead of even a great MBA associate. Director/MD is more challenging, especially if someone doesn't have great EQ
At Piper Sandler they kind of screw you by making you a step below new MBA associates, typically for a year (or 6 months for high performers but not common). Pay is lower until you get the next promotion to MBA status and signing bonus is also lower. Don’t require a third analyst year though.
