happypantsmcgeeSo, I went out with Aggravate last night and ran up my largest bar tab to date. What's the most any of you have dropped at a bar? (I'm not proud of blowing a fair amount of money on something so stupid but it was fun.)

Well?

$195 before tip ($230 with)... and at the time I was only making $11/hr. Talk about pissed off at myself when I woke up the next morning

I think the most impressive bar tab I have ever run up was around 170 with tip so prob like 150 or so before, before you laugh you might want to know it was 2 dollar beers night and 3 dollar mix drink night. Split that up between me and my buddy and three ladies and it came out to like 12 drinks each. It goes with out saying I woke up naked in my room with quite a few people in my bed and one hell of a headache.

I ran up a 110 + tip tab on $.50 college night at a local pub in Houston. We were ordering drinks by the 20 and handing them out to girls as they walked by. Group of 8 of us but my turn to buy. Dont think we ever spent more then $50 before this night then it always became a race to break $100.

Highest ever was $350ish buying rounds of shots for myself and four girls. One ended up touching her toesin a restroom few hours later

$2200.

6 bottles of belvedere @ $300 each, + $400 tax/tip.

It was a birthday party, we had 3 tables at "insert new random hot spot here", split the bill 6 ways, and had about 15 people total. So I paid like $375 or whatever my share was.

I will always be slightly embarrassed to admit to that - I think people that spend $300 for $20 bottles of vodka are the highest form of retard, but there I go making myself a part of it.

I used to do that all the time, too, Nobama. I feel like such an idiot about all the money I wasted. Had some great times, though, that's for sure.

Was a group of 5 to 6 of us. Owner ended up comping it, because he found out we were military. Gotta love the North East.

cartmanYou guys are fucking insane. How the hell do you rack up bills worth hundreds of dollars in one night?

Not pregaming, not being a light weight... and going with multiple people.

See above. $300 bottles get you there in a single purchase. Add a bunch of them together, and you've got a large bar tab.

What, so everyone in your party buys two bottles each in a single night? Maybe I don't get the picture because I've only gotten bottles twice, but the only way I can even see that happening is if you've got cheapskate buddies hanging around leeching off you all the time being too cheap to buy their own drinks all night OR you've (unsuccessfully) been trying to hit on waves and waves of girls.

Not saying anything particularly bad about a gargantuan bar tab, it's just mind-boggling.

Hmm. I thought I was pretty clear, but for you to have asked the question you asked, you either ignored what I wrote or didn't understand. So, to restate what was already stated, there were 6 bottles @ $300 each plus $400 tax / tip. Total bill $2200. The tab was split by 6 people, and consumed by about 15. The 6 of us that split it were best friends of the birthday guy, the rest were friends, but were invited without being asked to pay for anything.

The occasion was a birthday party; also previously stated. I assumed that implied that it wasn't just another Friday night out (so void the conjecture about cheapskate buddies and trying to hit on waves and waves of girls).

Lastly, you should say particularly bad things about anyone that spends $2200 on a bar tab, or $300 on a single bottle. It's dumb. I pointed out that I was embarrassed to admit my participation in such tom foolery. But, it was fun at the time.

$500 between two friends we were with 3 slampieces that payed later that night (WINK WINK) but i learned to pregame after that..

cartman -- i was at the library in austin and was amazed that i bought 3 shots of jager and a rum and coke for 11 bucks. conversely, in puerto rico i paid 5.50 for 2 beers, a rum and coke and two shots of rum. in NYC im happy to pay 4 bucks for a well drink lol

me and a couple coworkers rang up a ~1000 dollar bar tab at the end of september 08 buying drinks all night long to celebrate the cash we made... and this was a monday night at the galway hooker.. where drinks are relatively cheap. bottlewise there were a few nights in vegas for march madness for a coworkers bachelor party back in 09 where we were copping multi bottle after bottle at tryst, XS, tao etc

Shots is what will absolutely wreck your tab. Going to bars where shots are over $5 and buying rounds will do wonders to push that baby well into the triple digits.

Another big factor is credit cards. I've found that when I'm hammered it doesn't matter what is in my bank account I'm convinced my credit limit represents cash in my pocket and i blow money accordingly. The worst moment of my week is when my credit card statement gets updated from the weekend .

  1. Bungalo/Suite thing at TAO next to the main dance floor. It was the minimum that night. Didn't go over the minimum though. It was a special occasion and not indicative of normal tabs.

Nobama88I still do not understand how the average guy on this board (who many claim models and bottles) goes to a bar on a Friday night and DOESNT drop $100+ .... Do most of you guys just sip on the occasional beer / water? Any decent bar is going to run you $10 a drink + tip; then add in shots / girls / etc... maybe my college days were way too out there compared to the avg guy but I really didnt think I was that off.

thats what im thinking?! wtf some ppl state 30 USD?! That's barely a gin tonic for me and a margarita for the girl... what am I gonna drink the other 4 hours?!

$250...just me and 2 buddies.

I've attended countless all you can drinks with a few close buddies and we've collectively smashed several hundred dollars worth of liquor in a single night. I've always been fortunate enough to have bartenders and servers that are either close friends or friends of close friends that liked me/us enough to hook us up.

Those who have experienced the same know it is fucking awesome to drink all night, pound shots and have a $9 tab at the end of the night.

Additionally I have what some would call a "familiar face" so I get people that buy me drinks a lot because they think they know me or that we went to school together, etc...which is great. I recently had a bartender give me free drinks all night because she thought she knew me, lol. It was one of those, "Oh my gosh, it's so great to see you!!" moments and I'm thinking to myself that I've never even seen this chick before in my life...but who am I to ruin her dream??

I used to be freaked out, like it was some sort of huge Truman Show joke, because literally any night I would go out someone would ask if I used to work at xyz or if I went to school at such and such. Now I embrace it.

Regards

The top three I can think of are....

$2400 Plaza Day & Night Brunch $2200 Gansevoort $1200 last Wednesday at Beaumarchais

Buffet would smack me, but it was damn good fun!

$10,000 - $11,000 -- all in.

To be fair, there were about 30+ of us and this included the cost of dinner. No bottle service, just straight shots, champagne, and seemingly endless alcohol.

Most of my pricey tabs, at 400-500 per person, were for dinners with wine pairings, not just drinks. I dont drink anything fancier than vodka soda at a bar, I rarely drink more than 2, and i even more rarely buy drinks for a shit ton of people. Mainly because if I am with a shit ton of people, the alcohol is comped

More is good, all is better

I once dropped $90 at a complete dive bar, only drinking specials ($1.50 kamikazes and $3.00 pitchers of bud light). It was myself and 2 friends, but they weren't drinking much... The next morning was rough, to say the least.

Other than that, probably like $150 when I am buying a few rounds for a friends b-day or something. What on earth are you guys ordering to be running up $500+ tabs? Is it just a ginormous group of people, and incredibly trendy bar, do you (or your friends) drink like a fish, or all of the above?

In The FleshOn the last day of my very last final ever in college, $80 at McSorley's.

~$7k for work, but I only had to put around $3k on my card and a RVP put the rest on his. Have to love expense accounts. I saw him the next day at 7am and he was double fisting coffees with glazed over, bloodshoot eyes. This was in Minneapolis so you can imagine how much booze that can buy for about 15 people.

For personal bar tabs, the wife and I ran up around $380 before tip. That was not fun to see the next day when I checked online.

mfoste1who the fuck spends over a thousand dollars at a bar? Understandable if youre one of those schmucks getting bottle service, but if youre strictly drinking shot/beer/liquor drinks how is that even posssible? you would be dead

Just like every other thread here about 90% of the posts are exaggerations and pure bullshit.

Stop drinking at dive bars and you'll rethink this.

I think a few folks here have gotten bottle service at least once in their lives, though I am doubting numbers that extend much higher than very low four figures. Frankly, I think you'd have to have a three inch hole in your head to spend more than many people pay for used cars for an evening of drinking.

1 day hang gliding= $100 in cash +amortized costs > 1 night of drinking at a loud club where no one can talk= $500.

IlliniProgrammerYou people have serious drinking problems.

The night after I spent $400 on beer, a number of my dutch calvinist ancestors rose out of their graves, grabbed pitchforks and torches, and starting knocking on my apartment door at 3 AM, groaning "Spendthrift!" "Gluttony!"

LOL!

Yea, that's pretty ridiculous. Honestly, I'd say anything over $1,000 is absolutely ridiculous, and the only reason I put the number that high is I know some people can down a good 20-25 drinks in a night and those people tend to buy a lot of drinks for other people. Hell, I have trouble spending over $50 in a night these days.

Who in the hell includes ordering 'bottles' as a bar tab? I think just about everyone has been stuck with a tab @ a table in which they have to pay for a few bottles. Nice, congrats- not a bar tab. I knew idiots who dropped 5k in one night trying to press ladies on bottles. I try not to drop any money on tables..

A bar tab is when your card is on the line behind the bar all night and it's being hoarded by guppy friends and fake whores. I think the largest I ran up was around $720+tip back in college when I didn't know sh!t about saving money and I thought it was cool to buy the entire bar rounds of patron on the hour.

Of course things are different now that I actually am responsible for paying for everything.. although the fake whores and guppy friends aren't much different.
