An 18 year old with $60,000 in his bank account from his family. Fucking baller. Imagine having 20-30x the average middle aged American's savings at half their age. Pretty much has the freedom to do whatever he wants, pretty impressive.

EDIT: Alright MSers go ahead and comment about you got a hard-on when you shook Richard Fuld or Lloyd Blankfein's hand or something. Don't be shy.

"thurnis haley" Patrick Curtis obviously.

How long ago did you meet?

My Cousin, I'll list some impressive things he's done. Actually this is bullshit because he just makes me look bad, benefit is that he doesn't live by my family so i'm not being compared to him at family get togethers. You might sense that I have some disdain towards him for his accomplishments, but I don't, we're actually good friends, he's probably the coolest dude I know in general

  • Went to H/S, got nearly perfect grades every single semester despite his snapchat stories being him being an absolute degenerate (actually posted a story of him doing lines of blow with a chick)

  • Incredibly good looking, 6'1", very lean but has very good muscle mass despite never taking training seriously, walked on hockey team freshman year, quit sopohmore year because he just "didn't want to do it anymore"

  • GS summer analyst position his fucking sophomore year summer, despite not being in diversity recruitment. Not sure how he landed this, we have no family connections.

  • Currently is recruiting for a top MF PE fund for a position out of undergrad, has an offer for top group at GS (idk which one, he just said "top", assuming it's TMT or something), and an offer from HL Rx, and Lazard/Evercore

  • He is also not smart at all, actually pretty fucking dumb to be honest. took him like 4 tries on his ACT to break a 30 (he didn't even give a shit about it, his parents made him keep re-taking it and paying for prep/tutoring), and then somehow gets a 35 on his last try.

  • Kicker: had absolutely no idea what investment banking even was when he applied and got his interviews at Goldman and other firms. One of his friends just told him to apply for an internship because they make a lot per hour. Everything just fell into place

Don't beat yourself up on this, Eric. Some people like taking the long way home. Who the fuck knows?

The only difference between Asset Management and Investment Research is assets. I generally see somebody I know on TV on Bloomberg/CNBC etc. once or twice a week. This sounds cool, until I remind myself that I see somebody I know on ESPN five days a week.
