Who is your favorite rapper?

I have been on a Kevin Gates tear in 2024.

Middle school was all Eminem
High school Ace Hood, Meek Mill, Rick Ross, French Montana
College was Kevin Gates, Dolph, Migos

Future been on repeat since I was a young toddler. Dirty Sprite runs through my veins and I will fight anyone who says Purple Reign is not a Top 5 Mixtape all time

In High School, when someone got new subs in their car, this was the test song to see how loud it bumps:

"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

It has to be Nas for me. Although my favorite rap album of all time is Liquid Swords, Nas' discography from 1994 to now is top tier and includes many many classics with a ton of variety of beats and flows throughout the years. It's crazy how its pretty hard to nail down with period is actually his peak, especially after this latest KD and Magic 1-3 run.

I keep an eye on what's trending but I'm a sucker for old school gangsta rap

C.R.E.A.M.

I saw Wu Tang at the Observatory in OC California. Good times.

I’ve never been a playlist guy, so my Spotify is just 4,000 songs I’ve liked. I have a pretty good idea where songs are and it’s interesting to see that “hey this group of songs is what I listened to junior year college”.

Dolph and Glock and Moneybagg Yo have a string of like 50 songs, and yes, I was a menace to society at that time lol. Gonna bump these songs while I model today

I grew up in Queens, first started listening to hip-hop in the early 2000s. From there alone, I grew to love 50, Big Pun, Method, Busta, Nas, and of course... Jay Z. From a musical perspective alone, still think that my 'all-time' hip-hop artists are Lil Wayne and Kanye. Tha Carter III had such a profound impact on me during high school, and I'm instantly transported back when I hear a track come on. Good times.

I'm pretty evenly split towards alternative and hip-hop, so naturally today I'm more a fan of 'alternative-ish' rappers if that's a thing. Personal current favorites are Joey Badass, Jay Critch, Flatbush Zombies / The Underachievers, Aaron May, Kota, and that crowd. Key Glock and BigXThaPlug are also some southern rappers that I think are awesome... Memphis and Dallas I believe.

Lots of good music out, even from today's standard. Just gotta keep playing Spotify radios until you find 'em.

I used to listen to rap a lot more during high-school - from old-school hip-hop to niche (think Joey Badass, Isaiah Rashad, or even Swedish rappers). College was all about hard techno, gabber and other types of electronic music but now whenever I bump raps I usually go for Kanye, Lil Wayne and Memphis stuff.

Only answer should be Lil Baby.

Post your favorite song.

How is Kanye not listed here by anyone? Forget about him as a person for a second, dude is the absolute goat. He touches realms that other hip hop musicians don’t know even exist. Has arguably 4 Top 15 albums in MBDTF (arguably #1 but would hear a case for Illmatic, SSLP, Chronic, Reasonable Doubt or Black) and the College Series. Which is even more impressive when you consider that at almost half of his top ten songs in his catalogue aren’t even on those albums. He’s not the best MC, but he’s high enough that his MC skills + unprecedented producing abilities put him in a total league of his own.

Honorable Mention: Jay, Nas, Em, BIG, L, Pac, Wayne, Andre, Chuck, Immortal, Kendrick, Pun, 90s Dre, and Eazy

Totally depends on the mood, but here are some:

Just generally most talented that I myself enjoy: Lil Wayne, Kanye, Eminem

What gets me the most hyped / car music: Future (I would almost put Future in category 1 but I think he's a half step below those guys talent wise), old Gucci Mane, old Jeezy

The one that everyone forgets and one of my all time favorites: Mac Miller (Faces mixtape is top all time)

Others that tend to make my playlists pretty often: Moneybagg Yo, Lil Baby, Drake, Thug

Strip Club: Young Dolph

Also, can never forget 50 cent
