Why do people do this on Linkedin?

Lots of people will only add the years under their experiences, so like 2024 - 2024, 2023 - 2023, etc, especially for internships. Saw this on lots of LinkedIns, especially at prestigious firms. What is the point of omitting the month? Is it just to make the Linkedin look cleaner?

Based on the most helpful WSO content, omitting months and only listing years for experiences on LinkedIn is often a strategic move. It can help cover up short gaps in employment or internships, making a profile appear more seamless and polished. Additionally, it simplifies the timeline, which can make the LinkedIn profile look cleaner and more professional. This approach is particularly common among individuals at prestigious firms, where attention to detail and presentation are highly valued.

How could it possibly matter to you what month some random person started and ended employment? Why would you even care enough about something so utterly meaningless?

LinkedIn used to be good. It is still good, but lots more spam.

I’ve noticed that too. I think it’s mostly just to make things look neater. If an internship was only like 6-8 weeks, putting months might make it seem too short or less impressive.
