Why do South Asians lie about their race???
They come in on H1B1 or whatever. From India, Pakistan, etc. And then lie about being Hispanic and Black. Employers are too stupid to figure this out apparently. So they get all the benefits of life. They get the benefit of H1B1, as employers (for whatever reason) hire H1B1 over Americans. Plus they get the benefits of being a black or Hispanic. They do this in the education system too and get into top schools over whites, because unlike whites, they lie about being black/hispanic.
Why do they get away with it?????
I knew an Indian kid in HS who listed himself as hispanic and won National Hispanic Scholar for his PSAT.

Apparently College Board was. The guy had an unambiguously Indian/Hindu name. It was fucking hilarious when he got called to the front of the auditorium to get recognized.
Why do Hispanics who are blonde/white claim to be "minorities" to gain advantage? Affirmative Action is the most unjust legal form of discrimination against Asian-Americans. Good for these kids who did whatever they had to in order to gain an advantage. I hope all Asian kids do this.
Also, some "South Asians" are from the South/Latin American country called Guyana. Their ancestors were brought there as slaves several centuries ago. So while they look South Asian, I think they sort of consider themselves South Americans - which might translate to "Latino" in the incredibly stupid US racial categorizations.
I am of guyanese descent, i can confirm we have no clue what to identify as in the list your race section.
Some just lie to not be associated with the whole 'middle eastern' stamp on their forehead.
Technically you're self-identifying your race, and there is no formal confirmation process from schools (what are they going to do, ask for a notarized family tree?). It's kind of an honor system, although there are repercussions in the hiring process (optics aren't great if you show up to an interview as an Asian kid after ticking the black box).
The problem is affirmative action
It's not just limited to South Asians. I know a girl with blonde hair and blue eyes who's part hispanic and thus gets a full ride scholarship, a Jewish guy with family from Spain who lists himself as hispanic, and a girl who listed herself as Native American on her college apps. Her parents are from fucking Germany.
Hispanics in the first place should just be grateful for being here. now they demand affirmative actions, like the blacks. but at least the blacks were slaves and i can see the value in giving them some benefit. but the mexicans i can see no value. the minorities are looting the system.

The real problem is that there is any sort of racial advantage. Affirmative Action should be based off of economic background. A poor white male has a much harder road than a rich hispanic female.

A lot of times, it's hard to tell. I know people who I never would have guessed are Hispanic who are actually from Spain or somewhere like that. And also it puts the firm in a risky place if it starts questioning whether people are really the race they identify as, especially since a lot of racial identifications are a bit subjective or cultural.
People from Spain aren't who these programs are trying to target. And you're right, people get away with ridiculous claims because it's "racist" to question them. The problem is that AA shouldn't be based on race to begin with. I have no problem with Harvard or GS giving a leg up to a kid from a Bronx Ghetto or the son of a West Virginia coal miner. I do have a problem with wealthy kids who have been given every advantage getting a boost from the color of their skin. I had a friend in high school who was whiter than me and whose family owned a vacation home in Jackson Hole. But since his mom's family was from Chile, he got all sorts of advantages.
