Will exercise help me feel more energetic?

Whether it's cardio or lifting - will this help me feel more energetic throughout the day or is it not going to be as helpful? I know I should be doing this regardless, but would be curious to hear from those that have started exercising consistently, what benefits in terms of energy / stamina it has give you to work the job?

When I was interning during the summer I was able to do 3 workouts during the week. Benefits were countless:
- more energetic, can't say with 100% certainty but there was improvement
- felt more confident which believe it or not actually helps your job indirectly
- health wise is extremely good long term

Tbh I see no reason to not try it yourself. Taking care of your physical health is just as important as chasing career success. In the end of the day if you see it impacts you negatively(tho i highly doubt it) you can stop and try to find another way to get some physical activity.

I swim 5 times a week and strength train 2-3 times a week.

IMO cardio is generally underrated. It’s transformed my fitness but mostly just my general mood and mental health. That’s made me way more resilient to dealing with sh*t at work. Health is absolutely paramount, nothing else should matter more, it impacts absolutely everything about your life.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, exercise can indeed help you feel more energetic throughout the day. Here are some insights from various threads:

  1. Cardio vs. Lifting:

    • Cardio: Many users have transitioned to cardio workouts to be more efficient with their time. For example, 20 minutes on the Peloton or stairstepper can burn more calories than a 40-minute lift, which can help maintain weight and appearance even with a busy schedule.
    • Lifting: While lifting can help maintain muscle mass, some users have found that prioritizing calorie burning through cardio was more effective during intense work periods.
  2. Energy and Stamina:

    • Physical Outlet: Having a physical outlet for stress relief, such as a 45-minute walk or run, can help calm your mind and improve your mood, making it easier to handle work stress.
    • Routine: Consistent exercise, whether it's a 25-minute workout at 1 pm or a 20-minute morning session, can energize different parts of your day by pumping blood and increasing energy levels.
    • Mental Clarity: Eating clean and incorporating vegetables and protein into your diet can leave you feeling lighter and more clear-headed, which can complement the physical benefits of exercise.
  3. Practical Tips:

    • Walking: Walking to lunch and dinner can add up to 60 minutes of walking a day, which helps if you're struggling to fit in workouts.
    • Standing Desk: Using a standing desk can keep you from being sedentary and maintain an active mentality.
    • 24-7 Gym Access: Having access to a gym at all hours can help you fit in workouts even during late-night work sessions.

In summary, consistent exercise, whether cardio or lifting, can significantly boost your energy and stamina, helping you manage the demands of your job more effectively.

Yes. It will suck at first, but ultimately you'll have more energy, especially if you combine it with a good diet.

Really strange but i always thought that i should rest to make sure i have enough energy for the following day

But what i found was that regular exercise raised my metabolism or general energy levels

So when i started getting into the habit of gymming regularly i felt like shit for the first 2 weeks but after that 2 week hurdle i actually felt more energetic overall

yes

whenever I workout I have a small post workout crash that lasts about 10 mins and then boundless energy for the next day or two

I usually combine a weightlifting session with a run/time on the bike at the end

you mean exercise makes me....healthier????????
