I went to school in the city (Columbia) and work in banking in NYC as well. Have found that NYC girls are on average less attractive than southern and west coast girls. Certainly doesn’t help that the weather makes it so that you’re bundled up under 3 layers for half the year. That said, NYC has a far larger finance culture than LA and Miami, meaning women actually know or have heard of your job. When I went on spring break to Miami or vacation in LA and met people on a night out or even friends of friends, I had to explain in excruciating detail sometimes that I didn’t call their grandmothers to sell them stocks or that I didn’t count out 20s at your local chase bank branch.

Nyc has a very unique duality in that some girls are very very interested in their personal careers and as a result are interested only in short term flings, while others are completely lost career wise and live off their parents, yet they too are interested only in short term fun. It really is hard to find long lasting love and romance in the city. Many of my friends who have long term relationships have met their SOs in college or outside of the city through friends.

In a city of 8 million, it would be tough to make generalizations. However, I will say that unlike a lot of other cities where ppl often go out in pairs or even solo to bars to hang out. When girls in NYC go out it’s nearly always in a flock, either with all their gfs or with a mix of guys and girls. It’s up to your personal charm, looks, and Amex, whether you’re able to break into the herd and talk to them ;)

Interesting take in the 2nd paragraph. I would say to me, the reverse is true. Often times, the career women are looking to settle down in NYC/suburbs. These type usually don't marry until their 30s though. Some of them won't take you seriously if you're not pulling at least a 6 figure job because most likely, they are. I will say these women can be incredibly attractive if you're looking for a possible wife. They tend to be super loyal and not as shallow about looks. One major downside - they may be more of the materialistic type which can come off as snooty.

As a tangential question, if I'm not a big fan of going to bars (sensory overload) and don't drink, will my odds in this area realistically be greatly reduced? Seems like literally everyone else goes out

Honestly a huge worry for me coming out of college. I think the only way I can fix my perpetual fears of abandonment is to work for a well-known up and coming EB focused in the fintech space known for their premier cap raises and commemorative tokens, solidifying my spot on Wall Street as the gigachad smooth brained mouth breather that I am. Only then will I feel comfortable in my own skin smh

Toronto beats all three of the cities you mentioned above. Canadian females are different
