Work from home taxes

Calling all tax experts. I recently got a job where I can be fully remote. Currently living in NYC but my family is from Texas. Any reason why I can't say I live in Texas still for tax purposes? I do have an apt in NYC... but can also say I just sublet it, etc.

TLDR: can I use my home address for WFM to get a tax break? Who/How how would anyone be able to tell?

NY specifically is very aggressive on residency matters and will probably consider you a New York resident based on what you've said.

Are you planning on permanently moving to another state, without intending to live in NY in the future?
