Yakuza tattoo on the back?

Late 20s guy with no tattoos. Recently have been thinking of getting a yakuza tattoo on my back. Have been working in high finance across EMEA and have only seen two guys with tattoos (one assistant and one MD)

Do you think that idea is retarded?

If you just want a cool back piece with a similar style that's fine but I would not get an actual yakuza piece. It's almost adjacent to stolen valor and people may make (negative) assumptions about you in public areas like bathhouses, gyms, and such. Also some of those symbols have greater weight in terms of meaning and the kind of energy they may bring to your life. Having them unnecessarily may attract bad things or luck or experiences to you. Yakuza live that life so they can handle it and some of those symbols protect them in a way.

20 years in the can. I wanted to tell people I'm in the mafia. I compromised. I wrote a WSO post asking people if I should get a yakuza tattoo on my back.

Imagine one day some important person decides you deserve a pretty senior role in APAC.

You're hanging out with bunch of Asian businesspeople and they decide to take you to a sauna. They thought you were this odd foreigner who's ok at their job. But now they see that you might have gang connections or were once upon a time a delinquent person with likely bad habits.

Ooops.

Welp if you work in the cultural sector, they might think it's cool if you have a cool story about it.

When in doubt, use more peanut butter
