Zuckerberg and Bezos: The "New Money" Mid-life Crisis or Ultimate Alpha Move?

Is anyone else tracking the massive pivot in the "Billionaire Aesthetic" lately?

We went from the decade of the "humble nerd" (Zuck in the gray t-shirt, Bezos in the baggy pleated khakis) to whatever this is now. Suddenly, Zuck is rocking $1k oversized streetwear, gold chains, and training MMA. Bezos is living on a $500M yacht with a physique that looks like it was engineered in a lab.

IIt feels like the ultimate Revenge of the Nerds. It’s as if they spent their 20s and 30s being the awkward guys in the basement while everyone else was out having fun, and now that they have all the money in the world, they’re desperate to win the popularity contest they lost decades ago.

Does anyone actually find the "New Zuck" or "Action Hero Bezos" authentic? Or is it just a massive mid-life crisis fueled by the realization that you can own the world and still not be "cool"?

There is nothing that Zuckerberg can do or wear that will ever make him cool. All of these tech CEOs have more money than god but keep acting embarrassing instead of doing cool shit because they don’t have real personalities.

Zuckerberg looks like a lesbian gym teacher, Bezos’ wife is gollum, and Elon is just sad.

On some level, sure, but there are plenty who don’t radiate mid-life crisis divorced dad energy (whether they are actually divorced or mid-life or otherwise). I don’t see the Google guys or Jensen Huang publicly embarrassing themselves.

Brian Acton is worth almost $4B from making WhatsApp. What does he do day to day? What are his thoughts on every current top button issue? No one knows. Good. He isn’t doped up on ketamine like Alex Karp, fucking around with government like Thiel or Elon, or trying to scam people by overpromising what LLMs can do like Sam Altman. He works on Signal like an adult, donates a shit ton to charity with his wife, and enjoys his various outdoorsy hobbies. Evan Spiegel married Miranda Kerr and Alexis Ohanian married Serena Williams, all while Zuckerburg pretends to be Gen Z instead of a lizard.

Jeff is 61, 20yrs older than Mark... do you know what "mid-life" means?

It's a re-brand for better PR. Both have PR agency contracts devoted to their Private Public Image.

Thought this was common knowledge...tonnes of articles/ youtube videos about it
