Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) .. viability
Hey.. how are you guys doing?
I've been snooping around and I've thought about the idea to start up a BPO company in the next couple of years. I see lots of potential as many companies are looking to outsource their back office functions (accounting, HR, etc) and front office (sales, support, etc).. There are many potential areas to set up shop in, including South America; Southeast Asia, mainly Philippines; and a couple of other locations.
Each location would pertain to a certain function, for example: South America would be perfect for companies looking to outsource their Spanish support for their Spanish-speaking clients, especially across the U.S.. while Philippines is the best for English support as they are very skilled and competent in the language, especially in terms of accent. (I know this first hand as I've been living here with my wife for the past year and 3 months!) I would also use the Philippines for other functions, especially back office, as they are very educated and capable of doing these functions properly if trained.
The big expense I see (excluding a substantial amount of employee-related and other business expenses) is electricity. It seems a bit dreamy at this point, but how would it be if the office locations had solar power to cut a fraction of the cost, similar to Google and other companies?
What do you guys think? I'd love comments and constructive criticism..
Please excuse me if it's a little sloppy, it's a swiftly thought-out idea, albeit something that I'm interested in taking on.
Thanks, Steven
Isn't this similar to what Hewitt Associates do? As far as I am aware they are the dominant player in this arena.
Hi all,
Steven, I know there is quite some time since your post, but I am wondering now did you start your idea, as I have similar?
I cover Serbia/Balkan, Europe Emerging market and also looking for someone for outsourcing operations. I work in finance/ investing and this area is in my opinion very good for outsource. Knowledge is solid, more and more people goes to CFA and abroad, English is learnt even in the kindergartner, while due to the corrupted governments, market is down and salaries are very small.
If there is anyone who is looking for similar opportunities in finance/modeling/IT/CRM areas, please let me know.
