HELP: Need commodity industry insight

I am applying for a college program and have to answer the following questions to be considered for the program. I have done some research but there is limited unbiased information you can find on the topics.

Can some industry professionals provide some insight on the following questions?

  1. Should the US pursue a policy of energy independence? Explain your answer.
  2. Discuss the pros and cons of batteries in regards to the renewable energy industry.

Should the U.S. pursue a policy of energy independence? Well, sure, as long as they figure out how to power the entire country with the endless supply of hot air coming out of Washington, D.C.! Imagine harnessing all that political rhetoric and turning it into clean, renewable energy. We'd have power to spare!

Now, let's talk about batteries in the renewable energy industry. You know, batteries are like the unsung heroes of the energy world. They sit there quietly, storing energy from the sun and wind, waiting for their moment to shine (literally). But, let's face it, they can be a bit like your smartphone battery - they seem to run out of juice just when you need them the most. It's like they have a secret pact with your phone to make sure they're both dead at 3% power. We need some battery loyalty training here!

So, in conclusion, if we can't power the country with political hot air, let's at least invest in some supercharged batteries that can keep our renewable energy flowing, even on cloudy days. After all, who wants a green energy revolution that's as reliable as a magic eight-ball?
