How Important is networking in other financial service sectors?
Hi Everyone,
I keep a fairly open mind with my career options, though my main goal is to break into investment banking for an internship or full time offer. If anything goes wrong, I have several plan Bs in areas such as corporate banking, equity research, fixed income, asset management (etc.). Right now, all of my time and effort is placed on sending cold emails and networking with people in IB, however I'm not sure how much of it should I dedicate it towards these other routes. For example, I've heard of people who got a MM corporate baking internship with almost no networking.
What are your thoughts? Compared to IB, how much of an effort should I place in cold emailing and networking people in these divisions? Thanks!
