Insurance?

Is there such a thing as a lucrative career in the insurance industry? When I have heard people say positive things about the industry it's typically something along the lines of "you'll never be rich but it's a stable career with a wide range of different career paths" or something to that effect. Given the size of some of the largest insurance and reinsurance companies and private equity starting to play in the space (apollo/athene, blackstone insurance solutions, etc.), I've gotta think that there are some roles that aren't boring 9-5 gigs and actually pay well. Also if you look at the executive comp of publicly traded p&c carriers they are making bank and many of them went to random schools with no MBA and just climbed the ladder.

I think that a good specialist can make a career in insurance. There is a great demand for specialists with an economic background. For actuarial calculations, they gladly hire mathematicians. And in personal insurance, people with a medical background are welcome.
Clients appreciate good professionals, as they do at Sundays Insurance. Many employees come in without a degree. The company's best insurers train them. Many insurance companies want them on their staff. However, as a rule, they hold high positions in their organizations and are in no hurry to change employers.
