wannabeaballerhave you already gotten a contract to go to OCS, and if so, what will your MOS be?
He won't know until/if he makes it through OCS and gets placed in a branch (job for you non army fucks)

True for some services, but in the Navy/MC you can get an "air contract" where you get to go home if you're medically disqualified, and there are also other predetermined routes you can go like nuke (subs), and various non combat jobs like doctors and lawyers. In the Navy nearly everyone who goes to OCS knows what branch they will enter upon graduation. In the MC, it's not as clear-cut.

MC = performance based. If your mental, physical and leadership skills are good, you get cool assignments. If they suck, you get supply chain / logistics / water purification type jobs......

Offhand, does anyone know what the age limit is? Apparently, the legal age to received a military commission is 35, so that a person can retire at 55 after 20 years service. Depending on which recruiter I talk to / which website I visit, I get the following answers: MC = 30 [w waiver] Navy = 34 Army = 35 Air Force = 27

If anyone can add to this, I'd be much obliged.

i was looking over the website at the requirements for applying, and i noticed that they ask about your past drug use. I'm not a druggie by any means but have experimented in the past. was just wondering if i decided to join the military, how much this would affect my chances.

If its way out of your system just deny it and stick to your guns about it. You will go through multiple stages where the try to scare the truth out of you. Talking from an enlisted stand point though

shep,

I'll be straight up with you. It's about supply and demand. If the military is in need of officers, they will overlook past drug use that you may admit to. I had a roommate who got picked up in 2001 who stated that he smoked weed - when asked by a recruiter how many times he had lit up, he honestly claimed "A thousand". But 2011 is a different time, and getting OCS contracts are becoming increasingly difficult. Just remember, whatever your answer, stick with it and once you make it thru OCS, you'll never be asked again.

I fly superhornets off of aircraft carriers, so I can answer pretty much any question you have about going that route. PM me and I can provide you with any information you might need. Airwarriors.com is also a decent resource for someone in your position.

I guess shit gets boring out in the middle of the ocean so you have to complicate things to occupy your time.

DENY all past drug use. The great thing about America is that you're innocent until proven guilty.

They'll tell you "Ah, c'mon, bro. It's cool. I did it." Fuck that guy, just say you've never done it.

UFO, from what I can remember Marine Corps is around 30 to 32?

I also forget, but if you perform in the top 10% of your OCS class then you get to chose your MOS, if you don't already have a flight contract.

Do they give a polygraph for those in need of top secret clearance (perhaps special ops or MI)?
