Starting your own firm - Accounting, Consulting and Advisory

Has anyone here made the jump from a corporate position to starting their own firm or going to a smaller firm with an eye to take it over.

Considering someone similar to the situation I described above. Couple reasons;
- I guess the more and more I think about it, the path for me (and for future wealth) might be having my own firm vs trying to do something corporate which I am currently doing. I think I can be successful in both fields, but it would probably take more networking in the corporate world on my end versus starting/joining a professional services firm. The accounting/advisory route could be more work but more payoff in the end, I would like to hear others thoughts.

  • Right now I make good money, I could make better, but it seems the job market is a little frozen, don't know what others are seeing. My job is also pretty easy, my boss is great, I get to work from home. I guess eventually that will end. I do a good job of trying to learn things outside my job that are job related.
