Which masters program to choose for going into quant finance?

Hi there,

I am looking at applying to Masters programs in the UK for 2024, with my end goal of becoming a quant. I am trying to gage whether certain Masters Degrees such as 'Financial Mathematics' and 'Statistics' are considered as good programs to have for breaking into quant with someone with a background in computer science.

I have a BSc in Computer Science (68%), and will have a few years of software development / devops experience (trade processing, ML Ops) across two different global investment banks.

I am entirely self funded for my own studies, so cost is a factor for me personally. £20k is the complete top end of my budget.

The five programs I have narrowed down to so far likely to apply to are as follows:

1. Statistics (Statistical Finance) - Imperial, £19k

2. Machine Learning - UCL, £18k

3. Artificial Intelligence - Edinburgh, £16.2k

4. Computational Finance - KCL, £11.8k

5. Financial Mathematics - KCL, £11.8k

Other potential courses I could apply for are

  • AI and ML at Imperial (but a first is required, so assuming my app will get thrown in the bin for that one)
  • Statistics, Financial Mathematics at UCL (only £14k too)
  • Statistics with Data Science, Computational Applied Mathematics at Edinburgh
  • Economics and Finance at Bristol
  • Statistics at Warwick, and LSE

Any recommendations for which Masters programs to try and get onto for quant?

Thanks. (edit: doesn't let me remove the US region, apologies!)
