I’ve never heard of somewhere accepting the SAT only, I have been asked to submit proof of my test scores a few times but places were always fine with either SAT or ACT (sometimes GMAT as well, although I don’t think it’s as respected).

If you don’t have any test scores (went to a new age-y college or something), it might be a slight negative (places might think you’re hiding a bad score or something), but that’s really on the margin - I don’t think most would care, a lot don’t even ask

The SAT is being fazed out of college admissions very fast. Maybe it will still be used to filter out the best of the best in terms of MFPE recruiting, but I see it becoming less and less relevant from here on out. This act by colleges is largely related to the correlation between test scores and socioeconomic backgrounds

A standardized test will always matter for these positions if you are from a non-target. Otherwise, a 3.7+ from an ivy or ivy equivalent everyone assumes you got a solid score.

Just something to note for the non-targets—few things get me to vouch for a candidate stronger than a perfect/ near perfect standardized test and a state/ non-target school. It generally to me says, “this kid had no money and grinded his ass off to get to where he is”. Otherwise, I find it very hard to justify selecting a generic state school 4.0 guy over the generic top ten school guy.

Senior with a 4.0 at a target but 1200s SAT, yeah lucky to get in.

Should I take the sat again?

No… it doesn’t matter nearly as much as people pretend it does here, unless you’re going for MF
