Depends on who you ask, they're widely recognized as one of the best software investors out there. If Vista / Thoma / H&F are your T1 software investors, then AKKR is maybe T1.5 if you care about size discount. Certainly T1 if you're talking specifically MM.

Would put them in line with like Spectrum, JMI, SGE, and Silversmith - similar group. Good reputation in the software sphere, similarly hear sweaty though
Worked with them (on the sellside). Smart people, dig in super deep very early but as others have said, extremely sweaty. WLB worse than banking for sure
I know some guys in their ATL office. Never worked with them professionally, so I don't know what the office structure means, but they claim to enjoy the associate program.

They don’t have much clout/prestige but their returns are great. Very sweaty.

Do they do primarily MM buyout or do they also do a bit growth?

Does this include their other strategies besides just buyout? I know they have a growth fund and emerging buyout fund as well
I know multiple ppl there. I think the sweatshop comments are a bit overblown based on what they’ve told me..
That said, haven’t heard of many firms with regular top decile returns working lighter hours?
They have growth and buyout.
Agree it’s software pure play; well-regarded in that niche alone
