AN1 Compensation
Wanted to see what y'all think is reasonable for a MM firm to pay first-year analysts. I was thinking of a base salary of $85k with an expected bonus of $50k, bringing the total comp to around $135k.

In this environment (post 2021), first year base salaries have adjusted up to 100k-120k (+/- 10k). If you’re in a HCOL and large firm, this extends up to 130k. If LCOL and smaller firm, maybe down to 85-90k.
I’d say all in, you should expect to clear 150k-175k depending on your firm. Note that some firms will be above/below this, but this should provide some context from a person who did a PE Analyst program and should’ve negotiated higher.
I hope this isn’t discouraging but gives you a better sense of market rates. There are some other posts on WSO about it - so feel free to poke around. I think it’ll be helpful. Best of luck!
How do you exactly negotiate when salaries are standardized at any BB/EB/MF PE Analyst program?
Or is your PE analyst program not a super structured one? In which case I can see negotiation certainly being possible
Not structured so lots of room for negotiation
$100k based is standard at my firm (UMM PE), 50-100% expected bonus
