Anyone have experience on the IR side in a mid sized PE shop?

I'm interviewing for a mid size pe firm the does secondary, primary and co-investments in an IR role. Does anyone have any experience of this and what the exit ops are like? Also the compensation as you progress? I'm guessing its not expected to be at the level of the investment team but is it possible you're still quite close?
