Anyone regret leaving PE & why?
Starting forum to help folks who might think grass is greener...Ill start
- WLF isnt always better in other roles such as corp dev / finance at startups
- If you leave too early on it might be hard (not impossible but hard) to get back if you decide you miss LT investing
- Career prospects with PE are unparalleled and so are the economics (yes money doesnt make you happy but living paycheck to paycheck or being worried about job security doesnt either. i.e. startups rn getting flamed)
Everyone has a number. Pretty sure a senior PE guy I know left once he hit it (granted he didn't have visibility or a path to partner at his firm too). Recently started his own company and had a stint as a department head at a unicorn. Not even 40 yet and I'm sure he's a millionaire.
I would hope a senior PE guy is a millionare by almost 40...
