Apax and Permira?

Any information on Apax and Permira? Know they are the top megafunds HQ'd in Europe along with CVC but looking for more info.

Perhaps how they compare in terms of comp, culture, hours, any internal nuances. Know both HQ'd in London but mostly interested in NYC.

From the highest ranked content on WSO, it seems that both Apax and Permira are indeed well-regarded firms with strong European roots.

For Permira, there isn't much detailed information available about their American teams, including their New York office. However, it's known that they have a strong presence in Europe and have executed some interesting deals there.

As for Apax, there are inquiries about their reputation, compensation, culture, and work hours, especially in comparison to other growth firms. However, specific details about these aspects are not provided in the context.

It's also worth noting that a European PE professional at a large-cap megafund mentioned that Permira has built a solid tech franchise in recent years, although they may not be as prominent as CVC, Advent, or Cinven in Europe.

Unfortunately, the context doesn't provide more specific information about the internal nuances, compensation, culture, or work hours at these firms, particularly for their New York offices. You might want to explore other threads or resources for more detailed insights.

Permira has market comp for MF, good culture in NY*, hours are better than banking, training is meh, decent WLB but that varies a lot by person and deal flow, b-school placement is inconsistent, increasingly looking like a 3-and-out program, good misc perks (e.g., free lunch, associate business class travel for flights 4+ hours), 4 days in office.

Overall it’s a good shop to end up. Every firm has its problems. Don’t think Permira’s issues are any worse than any other large cap fund.

* good junior culture, not overly hierarchical, but there are a few mid-level culture detractors
