Ardian Private Equity (Previous PE ARM of AXA)

Can someone shed some light on Ardian, apparently it's a $71BN fund and I have never heard of them until an 3rd year analyst on my team left to join them as a investment manager? Is it consider a MM or MF? What's culture and pay like at the firm?

They tend to do quite few cool deals in the MM/UMM space. Often buying firms in the €500mm-1bn range. They have different strategies withing their PE such as buyout - based out of London mainly, targeting the big deals; growth and expansion based in Frankfurt and Paris(?); and LMM in France out of Paris. People tend to stick long term therefore I am assuming pay is decent.

PM for more infos.

Ardian pay is pretty good, solid group overall (they have direct and also secondaries + co investment) as it was their previous strategy), They are quite active GPs, they do know their assets well and really add value holding them.

Taking an A3 to be investment manager there he must have known someone or worked with them on a decisive deal. I definitely recommend this place, Ardian in France is really a top shop to land.

Thxs everyone. How does the firm compare with traditional MM PE firms here in the U.S.? I'm obviously very early in my career to recruit for PE given that I'm in asset based lending, I never knew it was a possibility to go directly into PE. I'm always under the concept that I have to lateral to a IB coverage or lev fin team then spent 1.5 year there before recruiting for PE.

Any further comments on them regarding prestige and culture? Maybe even any first hand insights. Are they a solid Exit option in continental Europe?

I have just recently read an article saying they have been the most active PE in Europe in the last decade. There is surprisingly litte on them on wso
