Ares PE Portfolio Management Group

I am looking into the Portfolio Management group (PMG) at Ares PE (Los Angeles) and discovered it is quite different from the PE Investing group. The PMG group seemingly assists the PE Investing group in capital deployment, execution, and accountability on fund performance. Could someone please elaborate on what exactly this comprises, and what degree of modeling/investment decision making this involves? Also thoughts on future exits/career prospects?
